Why LEDA® Compounded Color Technology Special Effects May Be Right For Your Next Project

Color and Visual Effects for PC and PC/ABS blends

There is a very broad range of visual effects you can create with LEDA® compounded color technology. Add colors. Add sparkle. Add shimmer. Add shine. Add glow-in-the-dark capability. Even add color to resins for medical applications. Makrolon® polycarbonate (PC) and Bayblend® PC/ABS blend are compounded with color and special effect additives that can be used separately or combined to create spectacular effects for your plastic parts.

There are numerous families of colors and special effects available:

  • LUNA Phosphorescent, or Glow-in-the-Dark colors
  • SASS Edge glow colors
  • MIRAGE Color-Travel and Pearlescent colors
  • ARIA Translucent colors
  • MINA Metallic colors
  • ASTER Metal flake colors
  • AZAR Fluorescent colors
  • DIVA Sparkling and shimmering colors
  • Rx Medical colors
  • JUST COOL colors
Some LEDA® Compounded Color Technology Colors and Effects are Compliant with FDA and Medical Regulations

Special grades of Makrolon® polycarbonate resins are available for food-contact and medical applications. Only certain approved colorants and additives can be added to these special grades. This will reduce the number and types of colors and special effects available for such applications. Please consult with your Sales representative to determine whether the LEDA® compounded color technology example you are interested in is available in an FDA-compliant grade of our resins. For medical applications, please explore the options available in the Rx Medical color family.
