Our Green Ideas Grow in Innovation Magazine

Bayer MaterialScience helps grow the products that are not only beautiful, functional and cost-effective today, but are more sustainable for tomorrow.

It's this keen understanding of greener manufacturing—and the desire to spread sustainability—that led us to share our knowledge through a recent editorial in the Spring edition of Innovation Magazine, a quarterly publication of the IDSA (Industrial Designers Society of America).

In "Plastics and Our Planet: Sustainability By Design," John Skabardonis, Marketing Manager for PCS Communications, and Brian Long, Lead Innovator of New Business, revealed the ways in which the phrase "sustainable plastics" is quickly shedding its image as an oxymoron.

The article emphasizes the ways today's designers and manufacturers can take greater responsibility for "greener" decisions during the production process—accounting for usability and end-of-life considerations. The end result is products that are more effective and eco-friendly. The article further highlights exciting new opportunities available today for creating more sustainable designs before, during and after plastic parts are molded...

All while retaining the vital "wow" factor of durable, streamlined design and eye-popping colors.

"At Bayer MaterialScience, we share a responsibility to integrate sustainability at the design stage—rather than struggle during or after production to reverse a negative environmental impact," said Skabardonis and Long.
