In the past, manufacturers used standard plastic grades in their LED housing applications, which tended to yellow and crack with age.
But BMS polycarbonates, in grades designed specifically for LED solutions, are unique. These Makrolon polycarbonate and Bayblend PC/ABS blend resin offer a smart choice for high brightness applications.
Makrolon LED2245, for example, can replace glass optics. It has the durability of Makrolon polycarbonate, but transmits a very high amount of light with low haze, all while resisting heat. Grades of 5VA clear material, and grades developed specifically for metal insert molding, will also be available soon.
And once you mold your LED components, consider an LED housing using one of our upcoming line of Bayblend PC/ABS blend resin—made from recycled post-consumer content.
