Design Innovation Fever

Bayer MaterialScience's innovation and design managers are just back from the 2009 Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) conference in Miami, where they shared their expertise in infusion technology to support the conference theme of "Project Infusion." IDSA brings together more than 3,300 leading industrial design professionals to advance the quality and positive impact of design in product development.

Bayer MaterialScience had two key focus areas highlighted in the display:
  • AURA® infusion technology, Bayer MaterialScience's technology that adds color or functional additives to parts after they are molded or extruded. This allows for on-demand coloring, increased customization, smooth color gradients, and reduced part inventories for applications that require multiple colors — key benefits in today's challenging economic environment.

  • SampleExplorer.com, a new online tool from Bayer MaterialScience designed to enable industrial designers to easily connect their ideas to materials solutions. The IDSA exhibit featured close-up photos of a variety of the samples shown on the SampleExplorer Web site.
